Found cause of "wobbly" steering wheel
My steering wheel had become progressively loose and "wobbly" over the last two or three weeks. I checked the threads for this, decided the plastic bushing was probably worn and ordered the metal bushing that replaces the plastic one in the steering column.
Tonight I took a 27mm socket and found that the nut under the steering wheel was loose! I mean, I could have turned it with my finger, if I could have reached my finger in there. I thought that while I was there, I would install the metal bushing that I just received from PP, but I couldn't get the metal clip off the column. The circlip is on there and wont come off. I tried needle nose pliers and dental picks and I couldn't remove the circlip. Is there a trick to this? I tightened the 27mm nut, reinstalled my steering wheel and the wobble is gone!

Then you don't need the bushing for now. To remove circlips, use a special tool for that purpose that comes with a selection of points or *bits* and is reversable for inside and outside clips.

Zeke,
Thanks, that's what I thought. I'll pickup a pair of "circlip pliers" for the next time and just keep the metal bushing handy for the time being...
