Installing a 'Check Engine' light on a DME car
 

I've just put in the cool 'No Bad Days Racing' chip in my 1972 with a 1993 3.6 in it. The chip can manually switch between a stock mapping configuration and a modified one. But the way to determine which mode you're in is that the 'check engine' light comes on when you're using the modified maps. I swear I remember there being a simple way to wire this light in on a car not originally equipped with one, but I can't find where I wrote it down.

Pin 22 of the 964 DME unit provides a ground to a lamp which is
connected to #15 ("run" on ignition switch). The lamp will be on
until the engine starts, given that no DTCs exist.

According to Ingo’s wiring diagram (that he wired his w/) the check engine light comes off of pin 8 of the T16 connector, which is the 14 pin connector on the DME side of the harness.

Yeep that's all there is Ryan and Loren. Pin 22 of the DME is routed through the DME harness to pin 8 on the 14-pin connector labeled T16 under the drivers' seat. It branches off the DME harness close to the DME box.

This signal provides ground to a lamp (the other side is B+) or LED with suitable resistor in series. Radio Shack might have LED's with suitable resistor buit in and a nice mounting socket on the shelf. If you use an LED you need to watch polarity. Kathode to Pin 8 and Anode to +12V. Kathode is the dash and Anode is the triangle. The resistor is something like 600Ohm if I remember correctly.
