To all you surfers out there ...
Isn't this a great poster - especially if you own a Turbo...
![]() Now what do you bet this guy had to change his wetsuit after this encounter? ![]()

I think that picture was in the San Diego papers this summer.
"It was reported that" at old mans (San Onefre) 2 or 3- young 8 foot great whites were trolling the surf area. They did not attack anybody. I wonder if the guy in the pic is saying "Hi Flipper". ![]() Last edited by ted; 09-27-2003 at 07:47 AM.. |

It was my 3rd time out learning to surf last year (Pacifica) when I was resting, looking down in the water and realized I couldn't see my feet, no booties. This fear that a shark could easily come up and take a bite out of me suddenly came over me. It passed and I fell through some waves for awhile, but later that day, there was an attack.

To be eaten - think about it for more than a moment and you're likely to push the thought from your rational mind and back into the depths of your subconscious, a dark pit that contains all of the other fears of death that are too awful to comprehend - the fear of falling, the fear of burning, the fear of being buried alive . . .
Unfortunately, it is this pit where most first thoughts and impressions of the GW reside. It is only with a bit of academic smoke and mirrors that scientists and researchers can cover up what remains the primary fascination that humans have with the GW, the fact that it is one of a handful of animals alive today that can actually eat one of us alive - and sometimes does. http://greatwhite.org/lo_frame_attack.htm |

Are those the original H1 headlights (on the car not the girl)?
They look very cool. Are they still available? |

That's a great picture, regardless if it's a Dolphin or Shark. Reminds me why I don't surf!

link about the shark and the helicopter
http://www.snopes.com/photos/shark.asp link about the dolphin. http://www.snopes.com/photos/surfer.asp He's correct, it's a dolphin. The tail is horizontal, not vertical, and the dorsal fin on a dolphin is shaped differently than a shark.

I stand corrected... Sure does look like the frontal area of a shark.
Here's a picture of the type of shark caught around here... ![]()

since a coupe has rain gutters, any of the older racks should work. Not sure about the newer ones...

DOn't laugh just cause I live in Philly, but I have surfed all over the world. In fact while living in Santa Monica I used to surf every morning. I'd take my truck to Topanga each morning to catch some wave time. One morning when I returned from surfing I poped my garage door and found my 1994 Speedster and my Fat Boy gone. Someone cased me pretty well. Here on the east coast when you see a dolphin in the water ( and you see em all the time now ) you know the water is clean and free of sharks. THey'll swim pretty close to you but not close enough to touch. I think they just like to tease you cause you're not as mobile as them in the water. Its almost like they laugh at yaa. By the way I have had surf racks on every 911 coupe I ever owned ( 911, 964 ( 2 of em ) 993 ( 2 of those too ) I ride a perfomance long board, 9 feet so its a funny looking sight. The rain gutters work fine, just make sure you get a quality rack like yakama or thule.

I live in Philadelphia now. I surf mostly in Long Beach Island NJ these days. Where, by the way we've had over 20 days of 4 foot plus in the last 4 weeks. Leading up to Isabel we had 7 foot plus days.

El Porto...otherwise known as "El Stinko". Some lovely water quality. It does tend to pick up most any swell coming through.
I head north and hit Zuma and Drainpipes. Topanga and the 'bu are too crowded for my tastes... |
