Light show
Hey, wondering if anyone knows a cross ref part # for an ignition coil. Maybe another german car that uses the same coil as an 82sc. I'm only asking because its sunday afternoon and choices are getting kind of limited with autopart stores locally. Mostly they just cary ricer parts and hand cleaner. Thanks

You cannot use the Bosch 'Blue Coil' with the Bosch CDI, if that is what your '82SC is running.

niner11,
There are only two Bosch part numbers that will work properly with the OEM Bosch CDI ignition unit ... 0.221.121.001 0.221.121.006 There may be cross-references to those part number from BAP-Geon, Beck-Arnley, NAPA, Echlin, etc. ... but they would HAVE to measure the same primary and secondary resistances as the factory coils, i.e., Primary -- 0.4 - 0.6 Ohms; Secondary -- 650 - 790 Ohms! Do not take some parts counter guy's word that their part is the same! Make them check the resistances before putting down your money! The CDI-unit can be FRIED by using the wrong coil!

Thanks for the info guys. The coil in question has some cracks in the neck and after a recent valve adjustment (today) it is arcing like crazy and making the car miss. I might replace the coil wire first but I figure its most likely the coil that is causing the prob. Still running the stock cdi unit. Heard stories of people running everything from a msd coil to a beck arnley replacement. Just don't want to fry a perfectly good stock cdi.
