Correction: I should have written that the crank is 3.9 inches above the bottom of the car, not 3.5 inches.

Great write-up Steve. Any pics? I wonder if Top-Gear will get to do a test around their track or a comparison against the Enzo. That, I'd love to see.

In Panorama mag they have an in depth article about the building of this car. The technology that went into it is truly amazing. They literally invented some of the processes it took to do it. The artilcle says there were 70 or so patents taken out on various parts of the car.
They said the price is about 440k which is more than unthinkable but when you read the article you realize that it probably is cheap for the space age technology and craftsmanship that is in it. One very interesting note. The article said that the carrera gt (which is basically an open top car) is structually stronger than the 2003 gt3 coupe. Pretty amazing. Not only that but the chassis, which is carbon fiber only weighs 220lbs. p.s. I am the guy that didn't know that carrera meant race in spanish, however I had heard of the carrera panamerica etc. I just didn't know it meant race. I know it will be along time before I live this down :D |
