From the Ad:

"In Dec. 1999 I shipped this car off to the Porsche factory in Stuttgart for an eight month, $29,750.00 body restoration which was completed in Aug. 2000. Porsche took a series of 47 step by step photos documenting the restoration.

A month later, I sent the engine off to los Angeles where Motor Meister restored it for $9500.00 during a 4 month stay. Motor Meister is a company that specializes in restoring Porsche engines. In fact, that is all they do."

Ya know, I wouldn't let the Porsche Factory restore my engine either.

Motor Meister $9500.... Stuttgart body resto $29,750.... Finding out you wasted all that money restoring the wrong model......Well, not exactly priceless.

Excuuuuuuz me, but why would anyone spend $39,000 restoring a 70T? Maybe the bigger question is why would a 70T with only 35K miles need a $39,000 restoration?

Let's be serious. I don't know if anyone would spend $39K restoring a 911S. Maybe an RS, but a "T" Gimme a break!!!

If this puppy sells, I am having this guy sell my, as yet undelivered, 73E Targa. I'll give him a healthy commission, and turn around and buy two cars -- maybe even three!!!

Obviously you guys missed a very important part of the description here. And one that might, in itself, justify the cost:

"Another thing is, that this car in equiped with what Porsche called then Comfort Group. This means wider heavier bumper guard around the car plus golden lettering."

Oh, and the price is not $45,000 - it's $45,000 (reserve not met)!!!!

Yeah, but did you see those door pockets? Maybe if our 73E's were that nice we could get $45k for it.

One more thing...I thought MM engine jobs were all $3k. Did the red painted fan and engine shroud bump the price up another $6.5k?

at that price you'd expect it to be in original condition, all the way ..
can't imagine the fan blades came out of the factory in that colour
or the floor mats...
it looks like the car is in better shape than mine, but i payed a third of that, and even i'm sure i payed at fair bit more than market price.

What's the deal with these people who pay huge sums
of money to rebuild cars but don't seem to want it when
it's done?

I mean hopefully this guy wasn't doing this car just to
flip it. I'm know there's plenty of folks dropping big cash
to save their 'baby' but at least they drive the car for
another 10-20 years.

and I am not sure you could go to opposite ends of the extreme on your rebuild project... Porsche Stuttgart - MM

Proof one more time that "a fool and his money are soon parted..."
