Porsche Crest 1977 911 heater fan.

My new to me used 1977 911S Targa has an axillary heater fan (as best I can figure) that I do not think is cumming on. It sits on top of the engine toward the driver side. I have tested the fan with 12V and it works. Can anyone tell me what circuit in the car turns in the fan?

Jeff

There is a switch that turns the blower on / off connected to the defrosrter handle down between the seats by the e-brake. Thats where I would start. See if you have power there and that the switch is working.

Hi Jeff,
I'm dealing with the heater cause it just stopped working and I found this very clear article.
Hope this helps!

Jeff,
Easy thing first. Check to see if the fuse in the rear of the car for the fan is good. If it looks good take it out and then put it back in with a twist. Corrosion back there will cause a perfectly good fuse not to work. Or you could do what I and many others have done and back date the heater system and rid yourself of the fan.

Garage
It may be unplugged... the round-shaped plug is under the dash area towards the passenger side.

Wile I was trouble shooting the fan circuit today, The fan came on. I,m sure it was not the defrost switches, the fan blower, the fuse or block. I suspect now that it was the relay and I will keep an eye on it.

Thanks for the help.
