Cone Filter Install Question on 3.2
 

With the removal of the stock air box to install a cone filter, the three hoses that are shown in the attached pic no longer have a mounting place. Have you guys who have installed the cone filter left these to unsupported or fabricated a mount?

I left mine unsupported.

Thanks.....I ended up with a low tech approach that helps a tad. I zip tied the hose mount to the bottom hole of the trunk shock mount.....better than nothing. That cone sure cleans up the right hand side of the engine compartment.

That looks great -- especially without the AC. I put one of these in mine also and I like your low tech support idea. I think I'll do the same. I had to notch the rubber on the cone to push it more tightly on the intake - so it wouldn't rub on the hood shock bolts.

The thing that kinda bugs me though is the lessening of the support for the air flow meter. It doesn't really seem to make much of a difference; just seemed a bit of a concern.

Yeah, especially without the A/C. Now all you need to do is get rid of the heater blower and plumbing on the left side!

Hey Eric, Getting rid of the heater blower may work in your part of the country but not in Denver !!

I noticed your a duc fan....... what are you riding? I just came back from 2 hours in the mountains on my old 900ss. This is probably the last weekend for high altitude (9000 ft and up) riding as it's starting to get cold up there. The trees are all turning and the colors were amazing!

Whos cone filter conversion is that? K&N? Where'd you get it? I see PP has the filter, is that all that's needed? Wouldnt mind trying that, if for nothing else ease of changing plugs...

Most of the Porsche supplies carry the filter and billet adapter as a kit....I'm sure Wayne does. Installation is very easy. I assume you get Pano.....check out pg 115 of the Sept edition for a pic of filter (K & N) and adaptor.

Yeah, you would be freezing your "attachments" off, but at least you would know your engine bay looks cool!:D :rolleyes:

Glad to see another Duc rider! Unfortunately, I sold mine several months ago. It was a 748S with a factory 853cc kit, and a bunch of other goodies. I just felt like I had reached the performance ceiling, and am now saving my pennies for a late model 996/998 "S" (personally, I can't stand the new 749/999 look).

P.S. - something tells me you like the color red!
