Porsche Crest looking 4 early 911 pre 73 esp in the north east(boston)

hi there

guys im looking for a early 911 im NOT looking for a"project" im looking for somthing to enjoy now and improve with time i dont mind if its a E or T (but S might be a bit expensive)

i would prefer a car that has a rebuild engine or that has a long service history...

im not sure if im expecting alot but i sure would love 2 have ideas for example what to look for and what to look out for what sort of money should i expect to pay?

whats the difference in a 1973.5 T and a 72 E (im NO good when it comes to engines and how they work)

i love STOCk cars that havent been changed alterd espically these older cars i love them for thier pure look..

how diffrent are these cars from the 996 can they be used daily? i own a 996 4s so that the only porsche i know about (owned 1 356 for about 5 days LONG story)

thanks guys

Cool

I have a 911T and although its a weekend car, it could be used as a daily driver.

The 901 gearbox is a bit of a pain in traffic, having to dog leg into first every time the traffic stops. And lack of air conditioning makes it extremly hot in the Australian summer, but im not sure how hot it gets in Boston.

I wanted a pre 73 car for the same reasons I just love the basic styling and the chrome. Hardest part is finding one without the rust.

If you want an "early" 911 daily driver for the Boston area, keep in mind that the "early" long hood cars are not galvonized. They rust pretty badly when exposed to the salt that is put on the roads in MA during the winter months. If you plan on using it during the winter, I'd recommend an SC or later car since they are completely galvonized and as a result will be less affected (but not immune) to corrosion.

That's why I doubt that you'll see any long hoods being driven between November and April in the Boston area.

The 1973.5 T originally came w/ CIS fuel injection while the 72E came with MFI fuel injection. I believe that earlier T's came with carbs.

There are a few early cars forsale in last weeks wantad (http://www.thewantad.com). This is the season where alot of people will sell "summer" cars up here in the northeast (lots of targa's forsale lately).

Here's a couple of links that might help in your research:

http://www.idee.demon.nl/

I've got a bunch of forsale links (some northeast sites) here:

Hope this helps,

About three seconds in the 0-60mph times!

I've got a '68 that I've been using as a daily driver for the last few months... they're very livable. Mine's a bit tougher than most because its LOUD, which gets old after a while, but I didn't particularly miss the A/C during the summer. Sometimes you get sweaty, but considering you usually leave an early 911 smelling like oil, a bit of sweat hardly matters

Its been chilly the last few weeks. I was *cold* this morning driving to work. Now I'm wishing I'd fixed the heat when it was warm out!

As John said, though, none of them are good for winter driving if you want it to last any length of time. MA salts their roads like crazy. My 911 won't see a road once they first salt it until we get a good strong rain in the spring.

As an aside, John, how'd she sound leaving your house yesterday? I tried to make some noise
