1978 distributor

Recently my distributor failed. The shaft moves up and down. At Wayne's suggestion, I would like to replace the shaft bearing and hope this fixes the problem. ( the rotor clipped the caps lugs so we knew we had movement)

If not, I would like to buy a rebuilt distributor or a good used one.

The distributor must have the numbers 0237306001 cc to work in my 1978 911sc.

you could always drive the pin out of the gear and inspect it for what wore out. often a fibre washer goes away, creating plenty of up/down movement. the 78/79 units are obsolete now, replaced with the later SC units with the dual advance. not quite the same advance curve.
