Another reason to buy from Pelican
So, I go over to Circle Porsche/Audi/VW/Skoda (no just kidding on the Skoda) to get a couple of sump plate gaskets and an aluminum ring for the drain plug today.
THE FREAKIN' PARTS GUY HAD TO LOOK IT UP!!!!????? And then he tells me after about two minutes of looking in his computer and showing me the diagram ("Yes, yes, that's what I need.), that he will have to special order all 3 of the items. Say what? You don't have a gasket to change the oil for every friggin' model ever made? Much less a 911 at that. Last time I was in there for something I thought I could just pick up at the counter was for some CV gaskets. You know, paying 4 bucks to ship a dollar part just doesn't compute. Nope, they didn't have any CV gaskets. Special order. Can you believe this is a dealer? They ought to have some requirement to serve the Porsche driving public. At least for something that is as mundane as a part for an oil change. Well, I booked. They won't miss my nickle-dime business, I'm sure. |

It's all about customer service...
I ordered a new computer monitor from a company in Tampa a little while ago. Checked online that it was in stock before I placed the order, bought it from them as they were located less than 50 miles away and I needed it quickly. I ***** you not when I say it was over 3 weeks before I had it in my possession. Had to by another monitor to replace the broken monitor whilst waiting for the 'replacement monitor'. To the BBB I went. On Sunday I placed an order with PP. Shipped Monday, delivered to FL on Wednesday. I'm a happy bunny. Spot the difference and shop accordingly. |

The dealers really aren't in the air cooled business anymore. Few parts are kept in stock and the knowledge is very limited. They are in the business of selling and supporting new cars.
The support network for aircooled cars are the independent service shops and specialty parts houses.

Took me 8 months to get a car cover from my local Porsche dealer! never will deal with them again. Heard several unique excuses though. Probably the worst service I had ever experienced.
