Need help identifying 1969 911
Please help if you can. I am looking for an explaination regarding my boyfriends porsche. He has purchased a 1969 911 basic model. He has told me it is not a 911E or a 911S or a 911T, just a 911. If this is so, why cant I find a manual anywhere for this? I want to buy him that for a birthday present. Can you tell me if there really is just a 1969 911 or is it the same thing as a 911T?
Thanks- ps. next question do you know where to get a basic 911 model manual? |
I don't belive there was a plain 911 in 1969. In 1968 I belive there was a 911 and a 911L in the US. An easy way to check is to get the VIN and we can decode it.(under the front bonnet or on the drivers door jam) Another possible way is to check the color of the fiberglass shroud in the back, I should be either black, green or red (T,E,S)

This is an informative web site on the history of the 911: http://www.idee.demon.nl/
This site has technical specs for the 1969 model here: http://www.idee.demon.nl/911_20/911_20spc.htm Hope that helps. |
My '69 'T' has Webers which did not come on the S or E models, they had mechanical fuel injection. Hope that helps some...

Hi,
I didn't have time to complete my last post. From that web site it looks like there was a 911T, 911E and 911S. Also a 912. |
I have a 69E. There were only E,S & T there was no "911" Check the serial number and then post it here.

I wish my girlfriend was as enthusiastic about my car! She just rolls her eyes when I talk about it.
