Newbster
Yup, after lurking here for months I purchased my first '77 911s -- neglected by PO but otherwise solid (#0895). A So. Cal car with almost zero rust (but with reactors and old tensioners). Believe it or not, the wife said: "let's buy an old sports car." After picking my jaw off of the floor, I said: "Sure!" My first post was a pic of a leaking chain housing stud (ugh). I apologize for the late post of the car.... Needs all the usuals and I just fixed the warm start problem (thanks to this board -- it was the accumulator). In the process of fixing/updating after years of being ignored. Current irritations are nonworking tach and a set of heater controls that keep popping out of the dash and generally don't work -- otherwise a great car (I think). This is a great bb with great members and great info. BTW, anyone know what color this is? The numbers inside the door are: 622-9-1. I can't figure out after looking in the Red Book or in several other sources (codes are missing from the trunk). It's a kind of beige/gray. Seems to be the original color. Thanks!

622 = Beige Gray
That's the name of the color, however it's not listed for a '77. Very nice car, BobS.

Richard,
Holy cow! Great eye. I live a good golf shot's distance from the dam and can see the "tooth" from my back window. And yes, life is good.... Thanks for the welcome.

BobS,
Welcome to the board! Your tach problem may be a loose wire or bad connection in the path of the Black/Violet wire from the tach back to the distributor. Problem could be at the 14-pin connector on the fuse/relay/CDI/regulator panel on the left side of the engine compartment. Most likely ... your Biege Gray paint color was specially ordered from the 1972 color chart below: ![]() ![]()

That is a nice color. I don't think I have seen that before.

Thanks for the color information and the kind welcome. I'm certain you'll see my questions again (but only after a search...). I haven't seen too many 911s with this color -- I was beginning to think it had mutated into something it was not supposed to be....
