Clutch Cable - lube or not?

I read the tech article about replacing the clutch cable.

No mention of lubing the cable....should I lube or not??

I didnt lube mine and it works great. Im told that the tube could possibly break down over time with the lube. Its just not necessary to lube it anyway.
