New York City Pelicans
My sister lives in Queens. Yeah, Yeah, I know, you feel her pain.
Anyway, she said there was an article in the Times about a Porsche event commemorating the big Porsche 40. And that it will be held October 18th or 19th. I'm going to be in NYC that weekend so I would like to know. Was she smokin' crack before noon again or does she know what she's talking about? Mike

Hmm... maybe I missed it (very possible since I have a newborn), but I vote for crack. Remember, I am sleep deprived and probably resemble a crack addict, but I don't remember seeing anything. If there is something, please let me know at marcw@pipeline.com. I will try to go and gladly take pictures or get numbers for anything you might want.... baby permitting!
Cheers, Marc |

I may have won that 40th contest? the Porsche contest commission is suppossed to confirm a winner soon.
this is a copy and paste "may be hard to believe.. and I can't confirm till it's over.. BUT I think I won Porsche Cars North America[PCNA] is the name of US operations.. and they just had some kind of 40th Anniversary/ who knows what kind, contest.. The contest was to celebrate the exotic personal experience that owners, hopefully for good US business, have.. The contestants are US Porsche owners.. The theme and name is something like "My Personal Porsche Story".. A fixed small number of words is the only constrant. Any Porsche owner and non Porsche owner can vote, I think, in the whole US. The vote is one point, two points, or three points.. The greatest number of points is the winner. The "submit" window has been closed. The voting closed at the "submit" window. In November the PCNA Contest Commission decides/confirms on a contest winner. The "Winner" is flown to a Nat'l Porsche Event to receive his plaque and $100.. including limo, plane, hotel, food, weekend, and one companion. The PCNA contest site is below https://40jahre.porsche.de/pcna/community/stories/default.asp -site name "Read The Stories" -SCROLL right to "view stories by" drop down menu -hit "highest rated" -hit "read story" of the #1 in total points.. and voting is finished.." and the Pelican thread on this is at Hey Wayne/ BigBig PR

Mike, I live on Long Island and haven't heard anything about this. If anyone knows about this "event", please let us know. Thanks, Mike.

Hey guys I found it. I checked the Manhattan Motor cars site but didn't see anything although they are listed as "particpating."
Let me know if you hear anything. Hey, maybe that month my little sister spent at Betty Ford Clinic wasn't a complete bust. "You're Invited to Celebrate 40 Fast Years of the 911 It’s been 40 years since the 911 roared onto the world sports car scene at the Frankfurt International Auto Show, ushering in a new era for Porsche and its guiding philosophy of performance. On October 18th, 2003, authorized Porsche dealers across North America will commemorate this seminal event by hosting special 40th Anniversary celebrations. (The date for events in the province of Quebec is October 21, 2003.) The 40th Anniversary is a chance for you and your fellow Porsche enthusiasts to look back at past generations of the 911, check out the current models and see what the future holds for this quintessential sports car. Everyone who attends will receive a 40 Fast Years commemorative poster* and four lucky people will win a Porsche Driving Experience (PDE) 2-Day Course at the impressive new Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama. Visit 40fastyears.com for event information and prize details. * While supplies last. "
