My parents gave me no money for college, only signed for the loans that I couldn't take out myself. 4.5 years and $45,000 in loans later, I landed an amazing job in a dead-economy and bought my first Porsche only 3 months after graduating.

Paying student loans is a Rite of Passage.

fake your son out with a sale of dad's targa then surprise him with it as a graduation gift.

Having to pay my own way not only made me appreciate it and work harder, but it's a much more gradual way to learn what it takes to take care of yourself.
He'll thank you for being a safety net, but not for paying his way, even if you do sell your car for him. If he makes the grades, he won't have to pay anyway.

when it comes to the 911, one has to be a little selfish
don't see it as a dissing the kid see it as graduation test for a masters degree from the university of life
