Windshield wipers to replace stock ones?? Suggestions please...

Hi Gang,

I "almost" opened the can of worms on by strut brace question...lol...but hopefully this will be a short and sweet one. I am looking to replace my windshield wiper arms with something a little better looking and simply better then the stock ones. I use my 911 as a dasily driver and although I hate to get caught in the rain, I do get caught on occasion. The factory ones are looking a little weak and worn out, looking for something better.

Thanks!

Brandon

If you are looking for the blades (rubber and metal) then you can get Bosch blades at many autoparts stores. My local AUtozone has them. If you actually want new arms (between the car and the blade) then you are likely to be out of luck unless you get some from another Porsche.

I am looking for the arms themselves, no aftermarket availiable?

I don't think so, but you could look at the 964 arms. They might look more modern, and they will probably fit.

What's "wrong" with a proper set of original arms?

Remove your original wiper arms,
Get some steel wool, and scrub the hell out of these wiper arms if they are really that bad. Spray them with a "rat can" Wurth Semi-Gloss or Satin Black Paint. Let them dry for a few days.
Buy some Bosch wiper blades at your favorite parts outlet, install the mess and call it good.

Harlan,

I think that is what I will do, thx!

What is wrong with the arms is they are old and worn out and I was looking to see if there was something a little beefer out there possibly with one of those small fins on the arm to put more pressure for wiping power....I will take Harlans advice, seems to be the answer...

Beefier blades lift, thin arms are good.

The 964 arms are actually the update for the older cars, When I repainted my car i got all new seals etc etc and new arms, when i opened the box i first thought that something was wrong the arms were bigger and beefier and look liked they were for a older car then my 82sc, they just looked like they were for like a 72, i figured they would be smaller on the late cars, thats not the case, at first I thought they looked huge im used to them now and really like them, you will like them also, if you do order them make sure you get the cover that covers the bolt that holds the arms down, the old ones will not work and they dont come with them, Kevin
