Problem solved, motor runs great.
Problem has been resolved.
I posted about a problem with a freshly rebuilt motor not running on the right side of the motor. See link http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/126349-jw-warren-wayne-anybody-your-help-needed.html Here is what was found. The cam on the right hand side was marked wrong. On the end of the cam is a number 930 and a indention mark which should be at the top as it is being timed. The wrench had the bright idea of pulling the cam and reinstalling it 180 degrees out which now puts the timing mark at the bottom. He then rechecks the timing and everything is perfect. He claims that the manufacture of the cam must of made a mistake while marking it. I have not had a chance to drive it yet (I need to rebuild the front brake calipers,there sticking) but I did start it up and it sounds great , music to my ears.This car has been in the garage for one year . Now if I can just get this stupid sh#t eatin grin off of my face. Great, just one note on the cam timing. In Wayne's book he makes mention of several ways to determine if the cam markings indicate the cam is installed correctly. He says something like, the cam punch marks, or the number 930 or the keyway should be pointed upward on both left and right cams prior to timing.
The cams on my 69E motor have these punch marks, and on the opposite side have some letters, like NE or some such gobbeldegook. I found that if you are in doubt, remove the chain sprocket and look for the keyway, this MUST be the direction the cam lobes are on! In my case the punch marks indicated the keyway side. |
