George, are you sure about the anodizing of 7Rs? The Rs I have weren't anodized, and they are still in the factory paint.
Anodizing is a great way to prevent corrosion from driving in the salt. But since the R wheels were intended for racing only, perhaps the factory elected to skip the anodizing.

Hi DVKK,
I've had, restored an sold 18 911R Fuchs so far, and all were anodised. That doesn't mean they all were, but I have never heard about any not being anodised.

Wow, Learn something new everyday. I didn't know they could be trued. One of mine has a slight wowy in it.

Anyone know of anyone in the NW that does a good job. Can it be done without disturbing the paint ?
