F'ed up my heater control knob...suggestions?

Made a very foolish mistake while detailing the SC over the weekend. I was vacumming underneath the passenger seat area, etc. Not paying attention I accidently pushed very hard on the red heater control knob on the floor of the car...my car has the automatic heater control option and the knob was always fixed in a halfway up position. Now it is all the way down, when I try to pull it up to where it once was, it just flops down again with zero resistance. I know I am going to have to pull that entire panel up and get in their to see what I may have damaged. Has anyone experienced similar? Is this in easy fix or am I screwed? THANKS!!!!!!!

If your heater is like the heater in my 79sc you might open up the plastic box that houses the unit and see if the arm became disconnected. If it offers no resistence at all this could be the reason and an easy fix.

The other option is to remove the automatic heat and adjust it manually. I did this a little while ago and I'm happy with the results. I now raise or lower the lever myself to adjust the heat and I saved one pound by removing the motor and electronics.

If your interested in doing this I can give you details on how but it will most likely be self explanitory once you look inside.

Good luck.
