Our Own Stephan Wilkinson reviews the new Porsche Turbo!!

Yes folks, board member Stephan Wilkinson reviews not only the newest Turbo 911, but the new 4 cylinder Porsche!

Well, newest by 1976 Standards.

From the December 1975 issue of "Car and Driver", Stephen's review of:

"Porsche's Incredible Turbo Carrera, plus the new for '76 912E Four"

Adobe Acrobat format, 1.6MB

Thanks Stephen, are a p-car junkie from way back.

Tom

Funny how much slower the Vette was, also funny the 912 was louder inside:

Wow the turbo only had 234HP compared to the euro's 260!

emcon5 thanks for the great find. I love old magazine tests. They really show how much cars have evolved in the last 20-30 years.

What a great article! I've been looking for an early 930 review ever since my Turbo Carrera engine swap. This is the only one I've seen.

Thanks for posting!

I wonder how many feet the car would take to stop from 70 with modern pads and stickier tires.

Jeeez, I remember reading that article when the magazine came out - right around the time I was converting from muscle cars to Porsches!!! I think I've still got the magazine tucked away in a box somewhere. -- Curt

This is one of the articles written by journalists that doesn't actually bash the 912E. There aren't a lot of articles that talk about the 912E at all but the ones that do actually have a very positive "alternate to a 911" spin to them.

Aside from the fact that I own a 912E, I was still surprised at how favorably the author and future Pelican head described the car.

I see now that I have absolutely nothing to fear from a 1975 Vette.
