Replacing wheel studs

I need to replace a few wheel studs. What is the correct approach? do you just use a BMF hammer and pound them out of the aluminum hub or use heat??

Well the best method is with the hub off, use a press to remove the old and install the new.

...assuming you don't want to do that, a big c-clamp or similar device is better than pounding.

...last resort is a BF hammer, some heat, etc.. (Used this at the track, but not preferred due to possibility of error!)

If you use the BFH method, be sure to put a block of wood against the stud. Over the years I have learned some things, including why a press is better than a hammer, and why there are brass hammers. If you use a steel hammer, and the stud is stubborn, you could easily destroy the stud by shortening it, and its threads, with the hammer.
