Car idles much smoother and better throttle response with O2 disconnected - likely indicating mine is spent. Autothority recommends disconnecting it so I've just left it that way. Now when I do emissions test, cat exhaust installed, O2 is connected. O2 won't affect fuel curve at WOT so no loss/gain in performance.
So anymore input on whether R&P affects the data? |
I used to disconnect mine for race days, but I couldn't see a difference with it connected or disconnected. With it unplugged, the DME can't go into closed loop. But as I understand it, it won't go into closed loop under full throttle as well. So at the track, when you're at full throttle for most of the day, it doesn't make a difference -- right?
Somebody set me straight if I'm clueless, here. |
DD74 - sorry I meant to reply to your question a couple of days ago and just reread the post. Chip is Autothority that was supposedly custom burned for this setup (improved exhaust).

Thanks for the answer, Mike. How'd you enlargen the throttle body?
Thanks again. |
Look for an ad in the back of Excellence for this service - maybe even through Pelican? Not sure of the actual HP improvement though.

The story in this link about 3.2 intakes impressed me. Have you seen it?

First time I've seen it but I do agree - impressive.

As far as dynos go, technically the Dynojet (and all inertia dynos)doesn't measure torque or HP. The Dynojet measures the change in speed of a rotating drum of known mass. This change in speed can be used to directly calculate torque (T = I * alpha) or HP (change in drum's energy in time).
Let's say engine speed isn't known. You can calculate the torque at the wheels or the the HP produced by the engine, but not the torque at the engine. HP is HP regardless of speed, but torque is affected by speed. When power is transmitted through a gear box it is always the same at the output. However, when you look at the torque, it is a function of the ratio. With a 3:1 ratio, 100 HP in = 100 HP out but 100 ft-lbs in = 300 ft-lbs out. With a 1:1 ratio, you'll have 100 HP and 100 ft-lbs. Which can do more work? They're both the same--it's the HP that matters as work is acceleration. |
