Different sound from motor- ?muffler going bad?

I think my engine sounds different. it is louder than it has been with a low frequency noise. It seems that under acceleration there is a deep rumble.

I had a motor head friend listen and he thought that the engine sounded fine but that the muffler might be going or baffle has gone bad.

How can I tell if, in fact, it is the muffler?

Other than this, the car is running great...maybe I'm just getting paranoid.

Thanks.
Dave

if there are no rust holes in the heat exchangers and they are bolted tightly to the motor and to the muffler, then suspect the muffler.

I had a GHL muffler crack once, and what you have explained sounds similar. My suggestion is to climb under there with a flashlight and take a look.
