Roadsters done, we're headed for California!
Well the team at Emory Motorsports has been quickly working their magic and they've finished the Roadster in time for fall races in Norhtern California.
The original 60's patina has been preserved with a shot of clear coat, but every nut and bolt under the skin is brand new. They even scraped 26 pounds of undercoating off the belly. Next weekend we will be at Laguna Seca and the following weekend at Thunderhill. Stop by and say hi if you're at either event. In case you missed the history of the car, read it all here: http://www.boxstar.net/Roadster1.htm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

That has one big anus. I liked the sound of those 356's growling by at the vintage races. What are the details on your motor?

Thanks all.
It's a new full race 1620cc motor putting out 160hp, but I will have to post all of the details on the build and tranny after our trip. It's been such a scramble to get done I don't have all the detail at hand. The car should weigh around 1,650 lbs, with this power to weight, and disc brakes, it should be faster than my 911 was.

Mark: Great looking car which brings back a rush of memories from the sixties. I must however defend 911S #808's honor, as the new owner, and propose that we agree that both are equal in speed. Otherwise, I challenge you to axle nuts at 5 paces! Name your seconds! All joking aside, have a wonderful 356 adventure.

hahaha, thanks Ron, I heard you were quite fast at your first evet. I put a letter in the mail to you yesterday.
You should steal my avatar (the little picture under my name) of the #808 - just right click on it and save it to you hard disk, then click on the User CP button at the top of the page, then click on Edit Options, then scroll down and select Change Avatar, find the saved 808 file on your hard disk and upload it. It's time for me to make a new one with the Roadster.

Doug, yes it will be there along with Jo's 58 cab. Jo's doing her two day SCCA/SOVREN licensing school this Monday and Tuesday before we leave for CA. We'll have the husband and wife 356 race team next spring. Am I a lucky guy or what?

Beautifull job on the car Mark. Good Luck at the Fall series. I'm sure we'll be seeing some great video footage of it all.

Emory is a class act.. even though I know very little of the 356 culture. I know a lot more now after spending a few days at Emory's annual camp-out. It's a fantastic few days visit if you are considering it. Motels are available, but the best experience is sleeping there with over 50 356 guys. I arrived on a Friday morning and stayed till Wednesday morning.
Wonderful people and a wonderful host........Ron
