Please help troubleshoot my headlight wiring.
I can't figure out why this is not working. I turn the lights on and my fuse blows. Forgive my sketch.
1) is my wiring OK on the diagram? 2) is it OK to tap into the yellow and white wires for the relay signal? 3) I've looked at this 10 times and I can't figure out what I did wrong. http://www.rallystuff.com/images/pca...ightwiring.gif |
your diagram looks correct.....but either it isn't actually wired that way or somethings shorted.
is the fuse you added blowing or is it the stock headlamp fuse? unplug the bulb output and see if it still blows the fuse....if it does you may have the relay wired wrong, double check you grounds on the relay. |
Also try each relay individually (as in unplug one).

OK. Had some dinner. A glass of wine. Back at it. :)
DOH! Found it immediately. The wiring diagram in the service manual (and in my sketch above) shows the mistake. The ground on H1 headlights is the right side connector, not the center connector. My low beams were shorting straight to ground. I just followed the wiring diagram instead of actually looking at where the wires go on the back of the headlight. All better. |
see that wasn't that hard :D
glad it's fixed |
Here are some photos of what I did. Now I have to go re-do the driver's side the same way.
