Removing outer sill panels
Quick question:
How do I remove the outer sill panel on a 1988 Carrera Coupe? Had the car only a few weeks and doing some cleaning up. Noticed some build up of mud that would be much easier to remove (and more thorough) if the lower sill panel was removed. I can see the lower bolts, but have no idea of the correct procedure for removal (and refitting). Bit concerned that I'll be able to get everything back together again, particularly the sill rubber trim. Thanks in advance. |
I just did this on my '75. Removing the rubber is easy, as is removing the screws hidden by the rubber that attach the panel to the car. Remove the end caps, the four or so screws under the rubber and the three screws you can see under the car holding the panel. Putting the rubber back on is a pain. I slid the rubber on the sheet metal back to front by using white lithium grease sprayed inside the rubber and on the sheet metal because it was handy. I know there's probably an easier way. Even with the grease it was a gut-buster. Good luck.
