Fuse OK but dead radio and cig. lighter

What am I missing here? My radio and cig. lighter are dead in my '75 S, but the fuse is fine (as are all the others). The radi is not too imp. but the cig. lighter runs the V1 and that is a very useful accessory.

Is there some other fuse (inline) somewhere? Wiggling the fuse (to get rid of any corrosion) doesn't help either.

Are these things on a relay perhaps?

There should not be a relay. I am suprised that your radio is on the same fuse as your lighter. Is your radio stock or aftermarket? If aftermarket, I would guess that the installer just tacked the radio wire to the back of the lighter since they are close. TI would look for a broken wire under your dash.
The radio should also have an inline fuse under the dash too. The lighter fuse is too big to protect a radio.

Randy,

Try twisting the fuse around in your fingers while it is installed. I've seen good fuses that don't make connections because of slight corrosion. Also check the Relay.

Check the ground. Brown wire on a faston connector under the dash. They seem to come loose pretty easily on mine....

try replacing the fuse with a new one. I had a similar situation with my power windows - fuse looked good, but windows didn't work. replaced with new fuse (I had already shined the contacts) and voila - working windows. now if I can only get my windshield washer sprayer to work...

There can also be an inline fuse somewhere....but the above suggestions are right on....replace the fuse and put a multimeter on the wire to see if there is a short somewhere. If you can't find the short, there may be an imperceptable break in the wire.....replace the wire.
