Winter Storage????

What should I do to winterize my car for the winter months? It will be garaged with the battery removed and put on jacks. Is there anything else I should do to prepare for the long winter??

Thanks...Chris..

P.S. My grandfather tells me I should spray some sort of fogger into the carbs to lubricate and protect the engine.....But I sometimes question what he says since he uses WD-40 for everything!

Don't forget mouse traps and listen to your grandfather.
Winter well,

Put some moth balls under the car, all the way around the car, but NOT inside the car. Put the battery and tires in the house (I put mine in a corner of the basement). Put the tires in bags (prevents ozone damage) and put the battery on a piece if wood. I also put towels on the car, then put on the car cover. I seale up the large garage door to keep moisture out and since I have a 1 1/2 car garage, I don't open the large garage door until Helga wake up in the late spring. I also put a few large pieces of cardboard under the car and fill up the gas tank and add a bottle of StaBil to the gas (per the instructions on the StaBil bottle). Good luck!

I picked this up somewhere, supposedly from a late Porsche manual:

"Clean your vehicle thoroughly inside and outside"
"Clean the engine compartment"
"The under carriage and chassis components should be free of
dirt and salt deposits"
"Fill up the fuel tank"
"Change the oil and oil filter and run the engine for several minutes"
"Increase tire pressure to 58 PSI. The vehicle should be moved slightly approximately every four weeks to prevent flat spots on the tires".
"It is not recommended to lift the vehicle due to the possibility of
corrosion on shock absorber piston shafts".

This is, essentially, what I do; I also put "Stabil" in the fuel tank and a "maintainer" on the battery (leaving the battery in the vehicle) and cover it.

Just remember if it's than a year, it isn't "storage" just long term parking.
