Are all Bilsteins the same ?
I have a set of bilsteins from a car ( car 1) that did not have a roll pin in the bottom of the strut. The top of the strut was green the bottom black. They are green cartridges.
I also have another car ( car 2) with the roll pin in the bottom of the strut and from the posts I have read here, they say the roll pin struts all use Bilstein cartridges. So then will the struts from car 1 work in car 2 ? I have not taken the struts from car 2 out to look at the diffrence, does anyone have a picture they can post of the bilstein cartridge that gos in the roll pin strut ? I need a visual aid. |
Sounds like car 1 has Bilstein inserts (green dust shield and cartridges) in a Boge strut (black body)? Just my guess. In which case I don't think they'd work in other than a Boge strut.

You have Boge struts (black). Specify the "Bilstein for Boge" insert when purchasing (from Pelican I would think) They are available in several varieties of jounce and rebound depending on your intended use.

As stated above, you have one car with Bilstein struts and one with boge struts, but they both have Bilstein inserts. They are completely different except the functionality.
The Bilstein dust cover throws lots of people off. |
So car 1 has a Biltsein built for for Boge.
So the two inserts are diffrent looking, does anyone have a pic of the Bilstein for Bilstein ? John W. told me all of this, but I was still fuzzy and was hoping a picture would magicly find it's way here of the Bilstein for Bilstein. |
