Porsche Crest Protomotive ?

Hi-
Does anyone know whats going on with Protomotive. They don't seem to be answering their emails, which is unusual since they used to be very responsive.

Thx Charles

protomotive ?

Unfortuntately, I sent them a ton of money for a stage I conversion and was interested in a stage I upgrade .... and I find the lack of communication at best ......unnerving.. I would recommend no further dealing with them until things are cleared up...

im not knocking them but there hp figures i think double after leaving the dyno and writing it down. there is a guy here in town who spent 25,000 on his 930 they told him it had 630 hp with the stock type cis on it with a single turbo???????????? i at the time had a 94 3.6 turbo with a set of headers cold air intake and a 1 bar spring i also had the early big fuel lines that was it we raced 3 times dead stop 60 kik and top end. i beleive i ripped the paint off the side of his car as i shot passed him. we then raced up top i told him lets kik at 170 he could not even get there?but in all fairness the do fab some realy nice parts i realy like there twin turbo intercooler set up.well good luck with them i know david hart down at prototech wich is there sister company if you dont get any response ill call them if you like.

Thx for the info - I'll wait to hear from the source- I do appreciate the hardware and technology they promote for the 911 and I would like to support them .... as long as they are above board and honest.

Hi- I did hear from Todd, so things seem back on track. I guess they were working on that 3000 HP engine.

I am interested in all experiences good and bad that you all have had with them. Also any first hand experiences with installing their product.

A friend of mine had an intercooled twin turbo setup designed and installed for his 993 by them. While he is pleased with the outcome things soured when he inquired about the next stage and they ordered and billed him for the parts. A pretty hard sell for someone who dropped some serious coin on their products. This the type of move you'd expect from a hurtin business.

I have had nothing but positive experiences with Todd.

He's been very responsive to my queries and needs in the past and has always offered technical advice and support for his systems.

Obviously, he's in the business of making money or else they WILL sink, so he has to take care of business first, before anything else.

Give them a chance and you won't regret it! I haven't one bit

Thx for the encouragement. Did you install the stage 1 and u/g yourself ? If so did you have any major problems, and how do you like the performance ?

Oh man, the performance is mind-boggling. It STILL amazes me HOW this systems works so well at the stock compression ratio, yet delivers a very reliable & streetable package.

I had the system installed by a local workshop, with some guidance from Todd. Yup, Todd actually assisted my mechanics down here in Australia with whatever queries they had!

Whilst the system is not composed of 100% Protomotive parts, the software, FPR, J-Pipe and other components were supplied by Todd. I supplied my own Turbo, which I opted for the KKK K27-7200 and I also had a full-length IC fabricated locally as it was just too expensive (at the time) to bring one in from the USA.

However, now that the Aussie dollar is doing much better, I'd certainly consider a complete kit from Protomotive in future.

I have never and will never look back. Best decision I've made with the car so far. Trust me, u won't be disappointed

(The only problem I've had with the car since the conversion was the premature failure of my turbocharger, due to an oil starvation issue! i.e: Oil Feed line wasn't large enough to lubricate sufficiently, so over-time, the turbo gave up and died Oh well, just gives me an excuse to get a bigger better turbo and do a few other little mods! )

Thanks again- that was what I was hoping for. Until our communication glitch, that has been my experiece as well, and things seem to be fine now. I'm looking forward to installing the system. I'll let you know how it turns out.

No problems Charles. Which system are you having installed?

Whichever one you get, your car will no longer feel the same.

Be prepared to be blown away by the experience

I'm planning a Stage3, so I'll let the board know how that goes

Good luck & enjoy!

A clarification to my earlier comment: This was an experience with the NJ leg of the business.

BTW, Todd is the pioneer of the 3.2 turbo conversion.

Hi Rick,

Were you refering to ProtoTech?

Anyway, yes, Todd is the turbo conversion GRAND Guru when it comes to transforming NA 911's into turbocharged, fire-breathing dragons

It's what he bases his business on, so he has to be the best when it comes to these types of conversions. Not only that, but he's the Motronics Master and has even mastered the art of turning the 84-89 Carrera Motronics into MAP based Pressure Sensing systems with a few modifications to the circuitry and code

I will consider that for my Stage 3 conversion and compare the cost of going Aftermarket EFI to Protomotive's Motronics MAP based conversion.

Will keep u guys informed.
