Hi
I got a 1972 911E with a bad tach redline 6,800 max 8000RPM. I can get a tach from a 1969 912 only goes to 7000 RPM will it work and read properly through the RPM range?? Please let me know. Thanks James |

I do not believe a 912 tach will work in your car. The 912's have 4 cylinders versus your 911's 6 (i.e. different electronics). The 1969 gauge is also smaller in size (i think) and mounts with a bracket as opposed to your E's friction / gasket fit.
I may have a tach for sale in the next week or so... let me know if you are interested.

jimal,
No, the 912 tach has TWO strikes against it, besides the fitment issue! 1. The 912 tach is designed for a battery-coil ignition, not a CDI-system, and the trigger signal from the points of a CDI-system isn't correct -- in terms of what the tach is looking for! 2. The 912 tach is a 4-cylinder tach, and wouldn't be accurate, even if the trigger signal matter was OK!
