Wheel Spacers

Is there a disadvantage to running spacers just on the rear wheels ? No spacers on the front. On an '87 Carrera.

The car has 16" 7's and 8's Fuchs on the car. The front wheels/tires seem to fill the front fenders nicely; on the rear I could seemingly use the spacers to more aggressively fill the fenders.

Thanks.

I have an 87 carrera cabriolet slant nose with turbo look and which has 23mm spacers on the rear with 11 in x17in fikse.
I run 275x40x17 tires which just occasionally kiss the metal.

What I've heard from people like Steve Weiner is that if you're going to put spacers on one set of wheels, you ought to put them on the others as well. Won't be catastrophic if you don't, but you're just changing the car's originally engineered setup just that little bit by not doing so.

In other words, if it's impossible for one reason or another to fit spacers on more than one set of wheels, you'll probably get away with it just fine. But if you can put identical spacers all around--what can a second set cost, $50?--you should do it.

Where can one get spacers for $50 per set? I'm looking at them and they seem to $100 ea.

Thanks.

I have no idea. But I just bought four 5mm spacers from Weiner's Rennsport Systems--that's all I needed--for $100. Maybe people charge $200 for 10mm spacers and so on ad infinitum, which makes little sense. But that's marketing...

Steve Weiner, who is a member of the board of directors or the board of planks or the bored of talking about it of Pelican's website--your choice--is at www.rennsportsystems.com/~porsche/ and for my money is the most knowledgeable and--even more important--most helpful Porsche performance person around. Don't bother him with questions about how often to change your oil, although he'll probably answer you just because he's a nice guy, but for serious perforance issues, he's my go-to guy.
