I'm pulling the engine apart and everything's gone very smoothly - until now. I've removed the 3 camshaft retainer bolts on each side, removed woodruff key, shims etc but simply cannot get the retainer plate to budge. Is there a knack to doing this or am I missing something? The retainer seems very soft metal and I don't want to damage anything.
Advice appreciated. Nathan

I had to GENTLY pry mine up with a thin screwdriver that had tape on the tip to prevent scratching.. Often a slight sealant is used on the gasket behind it, which makes it stick more.

I too used the flat thin screwdriver to break things loose then used a pair of needle nose pliers with tape on them to pull the covers off.

you can see the edge of the plate from behind. you can pop it out from behind by levering a flat blade screwdriver off the cam tower.
