BumperS I NEED HELP PLEASE...
Okay, as you guys know my car was rear-ended. I really love the look of the glass bumpers but I am a bit concerned about the safety issues. Do all of you just run the glass bumpers with nothing behind them? Brad the group buy bumper guy said he would sell me a set for 1500 bucks that sounds high. I really want to go that way can someone here give e a reason (great pics) to throw caution and safety to the wind and do this or a should I trust my better judgment and keep the stock bumpers. Weight is not the issue here its strictly cosmetic. I have to make the decision this weekend. Please help me out.

How about using the stock bumper, but use a Ruf valance in the front?
In the rear, remove the rubber pads and use the stock rear bumper. |

My car just has the FG bumpers with nothing behind them. I bought the car that way. I am debating adding some reinforcments.

Yes I do have the stock set up. I'm taking it all off this winter for a backdate (sooner if someone who just had an accident were to buy them off me
![]() Seriously, if you are concerned about the impact protection, stay with the stock bumpers. The Ruf valance is a nice touch, and it makes the cars look less like a .. an impact bumper car. I can't think of any bumper replacement that will allow you to use the stock bumper. But as I told you earlier, if you really want an FG bumper, have your body guy weld a bumper on the stock shocks for you. Make it as beefy as you'd like. If you were next door, I'd come and weld you one! It doesn't have to be pretty, but a little thought on the design would provide you with a decent level of comfort. |

Pix of the front & rear nerf bars
![]() ![]() I don't think these will be of much help in a major crash, but should help with fender benders. check out the RUF threads, lots of info there. Craig

Re: BumperS I NEED HELP PLEASE...
Quote:
These OE bumpers are well thought-out from an engineering/design stand-point. After-thought structural elements fab'd in behind f/g bumpers won't even come close to the performance of the the OE bumpers. If you like the fully painted look of the f/g bumpers, you can do what others have done; take the OE bumpers to a welder, to fill the mounting holes for the rubber bits, then have these modified the OE bumpers repainted.
