Dang, man. You are all over the place. Wasn't it 2 weeks ago you wanted a garage queen early car?
Besides, you can buy my 79 SC for $24,900...... ![]() ![]() |

Mark,
Love your car, but that is a pretty price for a 79. I am always all over the board, one look at your car and I want a driver. |

JK about selling my car. On the Carrea vs SC thing, just consider the source in the pm's you got. Most SC guys tell you to go SC. Most Carrera guys say Carrera. Either can be a good car or a bad car. If you don't have a preference, you'll double your pool of potential units. Just do the PPI dance on whatever you get.

hey SCVWGUY,
What do you consider a good deal? There are plenty of SCs, Ss and Carreras around that are a little rough but can be had for a steal. If you want a turnkey, you'll have to spend more $$$. Have you tried craigslist.com? Check out the Porsche listings in the SF area. There's a few SCs up here that are priced well IMHO. |

Good Deal
When I see a car, do I fall in love with it, and does the price seem right? That is a good deal?
The cars on the other post are to far away, don't have the time this part of the year to go chasing car down on the east coast. Michael |

As it has been said before buy the best you can afford. Set your spending limit and leave some cash for repairs / upgrades. Now you can be a serious buyer and negotiate the best deal for yourself. I will repeat what others have said get a PPI on your potential purchase.
I ended up with an SC since that was what I could afford at the time without taking a loan. My car had minor problems that helped me bring the asking price down to where I felt it was a good deal. I love the car and have owned it for 12 years. As you can see from my web site I am a complete DIY'er and plan to keep the car until I die. If I had more money when I was looking I would have bought a Carreara if it fell into my spending limit. They are all great cars each with there pleasures and headaches. If you are a DIY'er you can purchase one that has some problems that you can fix and possibly get it cheaper. If you are not a DIY'er then you will be looking for something with all the kinks taken out of it. Good luck with your search.

SCVWGUY. Would you be interested in a 1987 Carrera Targa for about $20K? I'm in San Diego. weber92037@aol.com

I'm still looking for a car myself. There are a load out there... you just have to be willing to drive/fly to go see them.
![]() I've been scouring ads all over and have found many good canidates. I just have to wait to get finances in order. It looks like closing costs on our new house are going to set me back a bit so I may have to wait a while.

Saw a 40k mile red no-sunroof SC Coupe for sale in Oakland today. Had black Fuchs, chrome window trim and a aftermarket fiberglass weissach tail, I think it was a 78.
It was at Porboys German automotive, one of his customers cars. He didn't know how much the guy was wanting. Their number is 510-437-9400 Tom |
