Successful Valve Adjustment... and a pic

Just wanted to thank all of those who replied to my message after my botched first attempted at a valve adjustment. As recommended, I waited a few weeks to clear my head (I was very frustrated), then took my time to carefully adjust the intakes valves on both sides, buttoned her up and then lifted her as high as I could to do each exhaust side. I was sooo excited this a.m. when I turned the key and that dreaded sewing machine ticking was gone... It really was much easier the second time around.

Thanks again for the encouragement and certainly all the great info on this board.

I decided to post my first pic. No reason, just wanted to show the car off.

Chris

Hi Chris,

Was it a pain in the butt to get the blower and intake out of the way? I'm planning on doing a valve adjustment on mine in a few weeks. Also, was it too difficult to adjust the intake with the car jacked up?

thanks for your help,

chris

For my 3.2 engine, all I needed to remove on the left was the heater elbow and hose. Quite simple. And on the right I moved the a/c out of the way and then removed the airfilter (as per the bentley manual)

I adjusted the intakes w the car level. No need to worry about any oil for them. For the exhausts, I put my car stands on a 2x6 and set them a max height; did the side then closed her up and switched to the other side. I lost maybe 6 oz. of oil at max w this process. In fact having the car set up this way gave me easier access to the exhaust valves on cylinders 1-3 due to the cat converter in the way.

Good luck
Chris

Valve adjustment (scratch that from the fear factor list)

Nice car. I've done mine twice now, and have decided that the procedure sounds much more complicated than it really is. By draining the oil the night before, it isn't even that messy. In fact, the entire major service routine isn't bad with Wayne's bundled parts and pieces.

Congratulations!
