Gas stabilizer off?

I started laying up the car for the winter today. Is it possible for gas stabilizer to go bad, Opened up the bottle, the seals had not been broken but all around the bottle there appeared to be leakage and it had a very pungent smell. Seems a bit of an oximoron; bad gas stabilizer. Could it be old stock from the store? I only bought it last week.

I don't believe there is an expiration date on Stabil. And yes it does smell bad.

Thanks Kurt, I feel better now, since I did dump the whole bottle in. I was hoping it wasn't a bad apple in a barrel of good ones. Lousy smell though, It lingers on you if you get it on you, like a skunk!

Steve, unless you have carbs and drain the bowls and the lines, make sure you run the engine for a few minutes to get the treated gas through the system! And make sure the stabilizer is thoroughly mixed in the tank either by driving the car or pushing the front from side to side to mix the gas up.
