Nice looking P-car.
As for the oil, be sure to check the oil level with the motor warmed to opperating temp and on level ground. If you check the oil when it is cold you will get a reading that the level is too low. When the motor warms up the oil will overflow. The first day I had my P-car I added two quarts thinking it was low when I first started the motor in the morning. I ended up having to drain two quarts after the motor warmed up. Of course, waiting to check the oil level assumes you have about 8-9 quarts of oil in system and just need to bring the oil to proper level. Edit: One other thing. Do not trust the oil guage at first. Check the oil level with the dip stick. After a while you can compare the oil level guage with the dip stick readings to determine the accuracy of the guage.

Up to temperature would be about the 2nd white block on the gauge. I would definately take some out. The stuff comes out at some rate if you remove the drain plug underneath the tank so it might be better to syphon some out the tank filler.
A lot of people reccomend keeping it half-way between the min & max marks on the dip-stick.

nice, and great colour, and price!
make sure the oil pipes under the front offside wing (fender) are hot when you check the oil. leave it idling (can take 20 mins) to get them hot.

Paulbav - nice car! Re your oil
![]() ![]() ![]() It happened to me: when I drove my Carrera from the garage where I bought her, after some 10 km slow driving I took a look at my oil level gauge and, Lawd behold!, the meter's in the red she's not filled with oil. So I drove even slower to the first gas station and put a liter in her... within 15 minutes thereafter, the gauge was showing "maximum" level... Fortunately I hadn't put all that much too much in, and so I didn't have to remove any oil. Below project might be suitable in case of a mild to moderate overfill (NOT FOR A BAD CASE OF OVERFILL!) Without Prejudice PROJECT: SIPHONING OFF SUPERFLUOUS MOTOR OIL ------------ Tools: some rags, paper towels, a thinnish plastic 1.5 yard long plastic hose an empty oil tin (with screwcap) cap. abt. 2 quarts or so... I would recommend you to board your car together with the above tools (at least) and (1) drive slowish for about 15-20 minutes at a constant lower-rev speed and watch that oil gauge. If if even start moving towards a maximum level, stop that car and (2) keep the engine running, and check the oil with the dipstick (it's in the back of the car ![]() (3) In case there is a clear overfill situation, then I would shut off the engine immediately and stick the hose into the oil-filler neck and +++carefully+++ suck some oil into the hose (PLEASE: NOT INTO YOUR MOUTH!!!!) and see if you can siphon some oil off into a suitable can with screwlid. (4) In case there is not any serious overfill, your mechanic can take care of changing the oil (or do it yourself, for that I recommend you buy "101 projects" from Mr. Wayne Dempsey (future Nobel prize candidate and Owner of this website). Gut luck!
