H1 'city' light bulb/socket-HELP
Read on another post that H1's have in addition to the two H1 bulb sockets, another 3rd bulb socket for 'city' or 'parking' lights mounted inside the H1 assembly.
Anyone know what/how to hook up this 3rd bulb to be used as a daytime driving/parking light? thanks Mike '86 coupe w/ H1's |

I am in the process of restoring H1's and just put one together last night and never saw any 3rd socket for city/parking lights. New to me.

Try a search for "city lights" or "parking lights". I have asked this in the past (as well as on rennlist). there was quite a bit of usefull info provided.

Mike,
Must be a misprint or typo ... H1s never had a city lamp! On the other hand, 80's production Bosch H4 assemblies DID have a city lamp, but not the '70s version.

The factory H4 units on my '79 have them. If they're in the bucket, just route the power lead so it's fed when the parking lights are on.

No. the other guys are correct. My h-1s do not have a third socket. Just turn your marker lights on if you want day time lighting

Thanks for clarifying the lack of a 3rd light socket in H1.
Jerry, i don't like doing this, cuz i end up forgetting to turn off my lights during the day. what's the easiest way to hook up my low beam headlight to be on all the time while driving? eg ON with ignition? Can someone describe a simple schematic on wiring this, for those of us (me) who are electrically impaired? Thanks Mike '86 coupe

HI Guys,
the City Light in an H4 is merely the sidelight from European cars, that is the only sidelight fitted especially on 74 on models, there is only a signal assy in the bumper and where the US orange sidelight is fitted we have an extra rubber bumper insert to match the one accross the front. Ian
