SC passes smog, very clean now, 4th time's a charm
I took the SC back to the test only smog station again after changing the suspect O2 sensor and leaning out the mixture a bunch.
It passed big time. HC was 12 ppm (max is 214) CO% was .09 (max is 1.36) NO was 377 ppm (max is 1364) It tested so clean the inspector said it might raise a red flag. Prolly BS. I had it running so lean that it would barely idle until the O2 sensor got warm enough to kick in, then it would idle fine. As soon as I left the place I richened it back up to where it should be. I think it would have passed without changing the mixture but I wasn't going to take a chance. One other thing that may have helped a little, the air temp this moring was around 60 (brrrr) and the last time I had it checked it was 90 degrees. Oh, and the smidgen of alcohol in the fuel this time didn't hurt either ![]() |

I failed my initial test on Saturday and did the same thing you did and it measured 0.09%CO this morning.

Actually, once the o2 sensor gets warm and starts producing a signal it's going to go to 14.7 anyway. So after running it that lean, once the o2 kicked in it probably richened it up. Or had you run it normally, once the o2 kicked in it would have leaned out. Either way, good to here you beat the nazi's.
