A glimpse into the future...

Thanks to Rick for photoshopping and Jack for taking the pic in the first place. This is the future of the Red Queen. Like it or don't it is inevitable...

How do you get it to hover like that?

Jdub 10-31-2003 12:01 PM

Those are Harley's racing colors...you running a Vtwin in that car?

Personally, I love that combination!

Paul491 found this pic. I am painting the centers black now and not Orange in case I ever want to change the script color I wont have to repaint the wheels.

Shawn, are you doing RSR flares?

thrown_hammer 11-03-2003 05:00 AM

No. Just SC flares on the rear which are already there.

MikeZ is gonna send me green scripts. Here is another artist rendition of the future Red Queen.:)

i kinda like the subtle look of the gray stripe

GeorgeK 11-07-2003 08:52 AM

Not sure it has much value for a gruppe B car, but here is the correct height for the Carrera stripes. These were put at the factory in December 1972:

thrown_hammer 11-07-2003 09:10 AM

George that is awesome. i forget do you still have that car? If so could you measure how far from the bottom of the door the script is? Thanks.
Kemo, Thanks for the options. I may change the door scripts once a season to mix it up!

RickM 11-07-2003 09:17 AM

Are the scripts a decal or that "color forms" removable stuff?

GeorgeK 11-07-2003 09:49 AM

Shawn, Oh yes. That one stays with me forever.
Here from the factory manuals:

Edit: the 2nd picture is wrong (of all places...). The stripe bottom is 50mm above the rocker trim, which is about 1-2 mm below the door sill.

thrown_hammer 11-07-2003 09:53 AM

Looks like line the C up on the drivers door and the A on the passenger door. And 48MM up from the bottom of the door?

john_colasante 11-07-2003 09:56 AM

Another way to think of the position of the Carrera script is to draw an imaginary line along the center of the stripes - they should line up with the center of each bumper where the bumper trim is on George's car. In cases where this trim is absent you could have a stripe there -and it should all be along the same centerline.

GeorgeK 11-07-2003 10:02 AM

Shawn, the C and the a are 10 mm from the edge of the door.
The height was originally thought so that the stripe top is on the same level as the front fender to bumper joint:

Thanks George. It is true my car is a GruppeB car....but some rules should not be broken.

I'm not seeing any problem with my history of depending on these machines :D

Looks like it's going to be a great project.
