Clutch Spring Arm Wont Budge - HELP!!!
 

I have been battling my clucth for 3 days now...

Removed the clutch arm easily enough but now the spring arm will not move on the lever at all. I have soaked w penetrating oil since yesterday. I am afraid to whack it w a hammer b/c it is frozen to the clutch lever and I am not sure if I will damage anything.

Any help at this hour is appreciated.

after removing the short arm, pop the long one toward the front of the car by prying with a screwdriver. that will relax it, and allow it to be removed off the shaft. (the engine can be removed even if it won't come off the shaft, as long as the short one is off). they do get rusted on occasionally, and you may have to use some heat to free it. i use an air hammer and a chisel bit, and even then, they can be stubborn.

I just soaked w PB Blaster.

Should I be concerned about damaging the lever w too much pressure when trying to remove the arm? I had a pry bar in there and the thing wouldn't move but the clutch lever itself had some vertical play to it. Thinking this is normal.

I will let the Blaster work in for a while and if needed I'll let it sit over night.

Put the short arm back on and use the adjusting screw to break the spring arm free. You can do this a bunch of times rotating the arm. Use a lot of penetrating oil an eventually it will be free enough to pull off.

I got it off this a.m.! Crawled under the car at 7:15am and began working it until it finally came off.

Any tips when reinstalling other than LOADING it w grease?

Chris, there should be a round seal above the arm. Be sure to install a new one (the old one is probably missing).

Also, a good idea to replace the clip on the bottom of the arm.

You can probablyu run a brake hone through it to clean it out, Kevin
