although if you go to KC's site, the car is still on it listed for sale, but it says to contact Kyle Walker. Maybe a buddy who is selling it for him? But after all that work why would it drive as described above?

It seems that front shocks weren't done...maybe they're shot. As for the brakes, there is no power assist on a '74, so maybe onewhippedpuppy just isn't used to the feel of non-boosted units?

Still seems like a pass though...

Go to the Rennlist classifieds , there are a few cars in your price range for sale that sound like better deals . Don't be afraid to look outside of your local area , you'll find lots of help from this board in terms of checking out a car .,

Ok, sounds almost like you've contracted first porsche lust. Your spending WAY too much time trying to figure out a total DOG!!! Time is money. You've already spent a couple G's thinking of this one. It's just not worth ANYthing at all. Maybe a little different if it were a "special" model or something, but you've got a rusted mid-year P-car in need of tons of TLC. Hook up an SC or Carrera. You'll be much more satisfied.

I'll lokk around here in COSP and see what is up and if anyone is selling. What is your range?

the good news is, this is a great time to be looking for a car (winter coming, economy so-so). The bad news is you will likely have to travel to find it. But people on this board will generally offer to check something out if you're serious.

You should also think about what your real budget is, and increase it if possible. Hold $2K in cash to fix things that will crop up right after you buy it...so if you've got $10K to spend, you need to find an $8K car. Tough to find a good one for that money though...you have to hunt hard and get a bit lucky. Bumping up to $10K will make the search easier.

Matt, since you live in KS, where I assume it snows in the Winter, you might want to focus more on 76-77 models, or even newer models if you can make it fit into you budget. Having a galvanized body is a very good thing, if you intend to drive the 911 in the Winter months.

geof33, around $7500. Kyle Walker is the guy that I dealt with, but Daniel KC Moore is the name on the PCA site, and also appearently also the owner (?). Oh well, I don't wan't the car, but the whole deal is just kind of weird. I haven't done a search yet, but I assume from the links provided that the swap didn't go as smoothly as KC would have liked. The house on the website is different, but this Kyle did have a green CRV in the garage. Nostatic, I have never driven a 911, but I have driven other vehicles with non-boosted brakes, and these were awful, with no stopping power regardless of pressure on the pedal. for $7500 (and I'm assuming you've got another $2K lying around in wait for fixes), you're going to have to find a car with some "issues". The trick is getting one with unimportant ones (ie ones you can live with). Your best bet is a middle years car with the engine redone right, and as Jim said, maybe focus on 76-77 for the extra galvanizing. You might get lucky and find an SC for that price...again, good, cheap, find fast...choose any two.

Nostatic, that's what I'm looking for, something mechanically sound with some minor issues to sort out. I plan on doing the work myself, actually look forward to it, and if I find a car with cosmetic issues I can make it my own. I did the search on Porsche_Virus, if I'd known all this stuff, I wouldn't have gone to look at the car. Talking about burnouts in the car, he appearently broke the driver's side half shaft and destroyed his heat exchanger, he told me the previous owner with the 3.0 bottomed out the car and ruined the heat exchanger, and that's why he put on the headers. I guess it just reinforces that many people out there are full of *****, and that's why a PPI is so important.

Sounds like Kyle may have bought it and is turning it. Maybe some unforeseen probs????
