Question What is it?

Just curious. I've been wondering what this unused connector is ever since I owned the car . . .

That's for your hairdryer, be sure to use one of those european conversion plugs though!

I think it is tied to a third position sensor at the top of the case, Bentley on page 971-8 calls it a TDC sensor. I never have heard of it being used.

That is for the TDC sensor that is at the 12 o'clock position on the flywheel. It is used as a diagnostic tool and has no function relative to the DME. In fact, when I installed the 3.2 into my car, I didn't even notch the transmission case for this sensor - I just tie-wrapped it up out of the way....
