Arrow Weekend Update. disassembly

I will attempt to document the teardown and rebirth of the red queen. Since the plan is to take the winter I will break it up into several threads. Here is the beginning. Stipped the car down and washed the front clip with concentrated Simple green. Let dry and wire brushed all surface rust. sprayed rust spots with "Rust Destroyer and let dry. Then shot the trunk area and underbody with flat black. Next plan to clean up and respray the Bilstein shocks the proper green. Anyone know what color green Bilsteins are? Also gonna clean up and reespray all the suspension components.

Here is a pic of mine installed. Maybe just print this out on a color printer and shop around for a spray can that matches.

I noticed those really nice oil lines to the front cooler. Are those braided stainless?
Did you make those yourself or did you buy them, and if so from where.
Otherwise very good coverage.

Goat, They are Mocal lines. I would recommend factory lines if you can find any.

You might want to call Bilstein or a Bilstein distributor. They will know what to use. They can probably give you a color code for a matching Plastikote spray paint from PepBoys. If not, just pull the top of the strut housing off, scrub it down and find something close.

Heres a shot of some Koni reds that I cleaned up and sprayed with a spraypaint from PepBoys. Koni NA uses Plastikote T-31 for touchup, but this stuff was close enough for me.

good luck

I'm with Kemo... the John Deere green should get you close... if you're not headed for the concours scene. I got a can at the local auto parts store, and it's actually somewhat close to Viper green (a few shades off in reality).

Cool I will pick up a can of JD Green when I am there to get my JD Blitz Black!
On a side note. I will trade even up my hood and front fenders for F/G hood and fenders. Hood is perfect and the fenders are very good. Pass side is better of the two. Prefer non-GT Racing stuff. Let me know maybe I am Kuhraaaazy!

I dont' think I'm gonna beat you to blitz black...I've got lots of work to do still.

shall i offend everyone by stuffing the subaru motor in the back of the 912??? it'd be a real outlaw then...it basically comes down to knowledge and price.

1.8L...100 hp
7 psi...160 hp
2000 lb 912...wheeeeeeee!!!

It's an SWB car...I've got enough oversteer with the weight in the back right now.

I went down the Bilstein green rout before. My car came with Bilstein "Sport" shocks from the factory...green in color front and rear.

I bought new inserts up front and rear from our host. I was told these were sports at the time...they showed up and were yellow. At the time I was told that is all they make...yellow Bilstein. I think I have the HD which are firm...really firm and I like but not the yellow color with the green upfront.

I talked to Bilstein they had no idea what color in a can was representative...some say John Deer, Some Say DemKote 217 and there are others. I was always interested in an answer on this and still need to pain my rears to match. Bilstein was nice enough to give me the Bilstein decals though for after painting.
