Rubber lips

No, not Sachmo-I mean on the car.

Looking at all of the RUF style valence photos has me wanting to add a lip to my 930S style valence. I'd use the 4x1/4 rubber belting available thru McMaster Carr, with fabricated L brackets every few inches. However, as it is now I manage to scrape the bottom of the valence at least once every couple weeks-usually on driveway approaches, occasionally at a "humped" intersection. Do any of you guys running low lips have any insight? How durable are they, and when the do scrape, are they likely to protect or tear up a fiberglass valence?

I have the factory chin on my lowered euro, driveways and speedbumps are taken diagonally whenever possible. The rubber held up pretty good until I rolled it nose-first off of a trailer and tore some of it away from the valance. I can't say how that will compare to what you mounted, but the bottem edge is a lot thicker than 1/4".

The two tie-down looking loops under the front of the chassis tended to protect the rubber from too much damage, but they are ground down to the point where I need to replace them or build them up with a welder.
