What's this worth?
1973 Carrerra RS 100 liter plastic gas tank in excellent condition. No sending unit, but it uses a stock unit. Fittings on the bottom of the tank are in excellent condition too.
On the top of the tank is: K. Kurz Hessental KG TU1-029-0172 May 1973 |

I don't have the Starkey book in front of me but I thought standard issue for an RS was 85l plastic tank? Perhaps if your example is 100l it was from a different race car (ST??), or was indeed an option on the RS (damnit where's the Starkey book when you need it)...
I have a steel 100l tank and found out that the regular sending unit will work, but that it is necessary to add several liters to the reading at any given time to obtain the actual tank level. The steel 100l tanks trade at impressive prices, but they were a little known factory option for production cars. That seems to keep the prices down below the ozone layer. Your tank? Could be worth $1-2k to the right person. A follow-up question to yours: anyone know how many steel 100l tanks were originally in circulation? Hopefully GeorgeK will weigh in on this discussion.
