Question To cover or not to cover (my seats)?

Hey everyone,
Just wondering how everyone felt about seat covers. I don't think I've seen... well, any porsches with seat covers except for a friend of mine with "The Simpsons" seat covers in his 944. The passenger seat in my C2 looks pristine, but the driver's side shows the 68k miles on it. I figured seat covers would be a good way to stop the seat from wearing any more. I'm just not sure how aesthetically pleasing it would end up being. Most seat covers are way too expensive, so I was looking at a set of wool blend covers that should match the interior pretty well.

That's not the color I'd get, but that's what they look like.

Just wondering if anyone had an opinion one way or the other.

Thanks,
Andrew

The sheepskins will finish off the leather seats. Serious, the sheeps will rub the threads raw until they break. Happened to me.

My seats look exactly like what you have depicted. I bought the car that way and the driver's side is certainly torn quite badly. Although the sheepies give you the comfort of a good ol' teddy bear hug, I look forward to ridding myself of the fuzz-buckets soon.

My .02 worth is that sheepskins are unbearably hot and smelly (mold smell) in the the summer (I store my car during the Michigan winters). The sheepskins were the expensive, German ones but they were nasty! They came with the car and were about 10 years old, but I'd stay away from them and get the seats rebuilt/recovered instead of going the "cheap seatcover" route.

Hey, you wouldn't say that if the interior had a matching steering-wheel cover. . . .maybe one for the dash too.

Shagadelic, baybee.

lol, well, it looks like the concensus is not to go with seat covers. I'm glad I asked though, I had no idea the skins would rub and destroy the leather.

I'm going with some Recaro Pole Positions this winter. In the meantime I'd rather ride on shredded leather than sheepskin.
