What parts will I need to recarpet / upholster a 911T 1972?
Hi all,
I'm planning to fix up the messy interior of my -72 911T Targa and could use some help. The plan is to do the following: - Replace carpets - Create new doorpanels from scratch. (Not copy the originals because I want to house some pretty good speakers) - Replace seats Unfourtunatly I tend do be a bit optimistic when planning and budgeting for my work so I need som advise. What surprises are there for me? I plan to buy all new carpets from a proffessional upholstry company. I already got the seats. What else should I buy while I'm at it? Any new rubbersealings? Lists? Treshhold flares? etc. I would really hate it if I take the hole interior appart just to find out that I canīt afford to put it back togeather again.... I'm on a pretty tight budget. /Christian PS. Sorry for the poor English... but it's not my native language.

Forget the restoring your seats if your on a budget. Even to recover them is expensive. My advice is to by a RS carpet kit from appbiz or Pelican. Cheap and easy to install (took me a weekend). Use 3M spray glue (1 to 2 cans). Door panels are made of 1/8" plywood or I would use lexan.

Luckely I allready got the seats so they should just be to put in place (I hope). The question if it's likely that I find any other surprices once I have removed the old carpet.

I just bought a carpet kit from appbiz. It came missing two pieces of carpet, but was made right immediately with a phone call. I installed it myself against the advice of Bob at appbiz. It took me about 5 hours. Everything fit well and it looks great. Price was good. It was a fun weekend project. Good luck.

Save weight.
You can save some weight by removing the undercoating and Por-15 it while you're at it. I did it with my 72T. Appbiz carpet set is a good idea. You may want to bid for it on Ebay and get a cheaper price than ordering it. They also sell door panel on Ebay. I didn't have any problem by bidding on Ebay and getting the carpet set that way. Bob of Appbiz even switch to an early RS carpet set eventhough I bid for a later year model without charging me extra.

If you want a non RS carpet set, I've got a black plush carpet set for a '68 here for sale. Not sure if it is the same as a set of a '72 or whatnot, but someone here might know.
